Enchanted Valley
The Enchanted Valley lives up to its name. After a 13-mile hike along the Quinault River, the valley opens up to reveal a massive chalet dwarfed by walls of rock that stretch a thousand feet on either side. Waterfalls pour from every direction after the autumn rains.
Into the Mist
Morning fog rolled through the valley just before sunrise, creating layers of atmosphere that transformed every composition. The elk herd that frequents the valley appeared at dawn, moving silently through the meadow as if the mist were their element.
I spent three days shooting here, waiting for the light to shift and the weather to cycle through its moods. Some of my favorite frames came during brief breaks in the clouds, when shafts of golden light would illuminate a single waterfall against the dark stone.
